Late-stage (dying) empires are dangerous. Like a wounded animal they will lash out in all directions to take as many countries down with them as they can. Apart from constantly threatening ‘ in the future’ to pick a fight with China, the US has now started an operation of destabilisation in the ‘Stans, increased their presence in Africa and ramping up their campaign to make Pacific countries abandon their participation in the Belt & Road Initiative. The reason empires fall, is that they become led by idiots, incapable of acting rationally or correctly perceiving reality. There is really no problem with the bond market. It is following market fundamental’s. The problem is the banks, corporations, and government are poorly positioned and cannot tolerate higher interest rates. A major banking crisis is now inevitable, which will cause a lending crisis and a liquidity crisis.
