Leader of Georgia’s parliament sends his sympathies to Ukraine for appointing wanted criminal Saakashvili as governor of Odessa

The protege of American war monger neocon John McCain, was at one point hiding out in Williamsburg, New York, wanted in his hime country of Georgia for embezzlement, abuse of power and politically-motivated attacks.

In 2008, Saakashvili launched a catastrophic war against the breakaway province of South Ossetia. Eventually Russian peace-enforcement troops crushed his forces.

The embarrassment of this military defeat, coupled with economic stagnation (Saakashvili tenure as President oversaw a 16% unemployment rate in Georgia), made him a hated man with most Georgians.

Mikheil Saakashvili has now joined up with the rest of the US puppet criminals running Ukraine into the ground.

Georgia’s former President Mikhail Saakashvili, wanted by his country’s prosecutors for embezzlement, abuse of power and politically-motivated attacks, has been appointed governor of Ukraine’s Odessa region.

President Petro Poroshenko personally appointed Saakashvili to the post, saying the former Georgian leader is “a friend of Ukraine.” In a statement at Saakashvili’s nomination in Odessa, Poroshenko said the two had known each other for 25 years, since university days.

According to Poroshenko, Saakashvili “has proven with deeds, not words that he can not only give birth to creative ideas, but also put them into practice.” He added Georgia’s ex-president had changed his country “in the direction of transparency, effectiveness, anti-corruption, appeal for foreign investors, fair justice, protection of citizen’s rights, democracy,” something Poroshenko “would like to see very much” in Odessa.

Earlier on Saturday, Saakashvili was given Ukrainian citizenship under Petro Poroshenko’s personal decree, published on his website. According to the Ukrainian constitution, only a citizen can become an official at governor level.

The leader of Georgia’s parliament, Davit Saganelidze expressed his sympathy to the people of Ukraine over Mikhail Saakashvili’s appointment as governor of Odessa, calling it a “serious mistake”.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Saganelidze noted that “this is a very serious mistake on the part of Ukrainian authorities.”

“I sympathize with the Ukrainian people, who are very near and dear to my heart, and especially to the people of Odessa,” Saganelidze added, commenting on Saturday’s announcement by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that he had appointed Saakashvili governor of the southern region.

Saganelidze noted that “God willing, Mikhail Saakashvili would undergo an ideological change, and we would deal with a completely different person, although for a man like this, I think it’s impossible.”

Commenting on his long-standing opposition to Saakashvili, Saganelidze noted that he was convinced that Ukrainians would soon come to know Saakashvili for who he really is. “When Saakashvili broke into the hall of parliament in 2003, I was against it, the PM noted.

“At that time, many had criticized me for failing to stand with him, but I insisted that this deranged person will not bring the country any good. It is likely that [some] years will likely pass, and the Ukrainian people will become convinced of this, just as happened in the case of the Georgian people,” Saganelidze added.

Saakashvili, appointed Saturday, noted that he would like to see Odessa become the “capital of the Black Sea.” For his part, Poroshenko stated that among Saakashvili’s main tasks will be fighting oligarchy and corruption. Saakashvili has been a fugitive from justice in Georgia since 2013, after Georgian prosecutors charged him numerous charges, from abuse of power to misappropriation of funds to over $5 million in embezzlement charges.

Georgia has repeatedly asked Ukraine to extradite Saakashvili, who was appointed as an advisor to the Ukrainian government earlier this year. The country has also tried, unsuccessfully, to get the ex-president on Interpol’s wanted list.
