It remains unclear whether Iran has nuclear weapons. Apparently, Pakistan has offered to give Iran a deliverable nuclear weapon. We have not heard whether Iran has accepted the offer. As Prof Mearsheimer has pointed out, just one such weapon would not be a deterrent; it would only invite attack. The MAD doctrine requires the credible threat of a nuclear response. Iran would have to have dozens of them concealed in different places. I am just speculating, but I think Iran will chose to develop its own nuclear arsenal instead, which it is fully capable of doing. But still, hearing this could scare the hell out of Trump, and this may account for his changed behavior in recent days. On the Russia front, Putin looked confident and strong in his two-hour speech praising the military, and it is pretty clear that he intends to finish Ukraine off this year.
