You make him out to be a bit of a lovable rogue, whereas he was an extremely nasty piece of work who cared nothing for anybody but himself and felt that the untold misery and the millions of deaths he caused were ‘worth it’.

I don’t believe he cared about the USA either, only so far as it worked in his favour. Deep down he was as murderous as the present neocons, although he loved ‘diplomacy’ whereas they don’t have a clue how to do that.
