Dodgers announcer says he will “never watch another NFL game again”

National anthem protests turn Vin Scully away from watching NFL games.

Former Dodgers announcer and Hall of Famer, Vin Scully, was at the Pasadena Civic Center for an event called “An Evening With Vin Scully”, where the baseball icon revealed that he is done watching NFL games.

Scully was asked about the NFL’s national anthem “take a knee” protests, and Scully replied by stating he “will never watch another NFL game” again.

Here is a full transcript of Scully’s comments, via Deadspin…

“I have only one personal thought, really. And I am so disappointed. And I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday. And it’s not that I’m some great patriot. I was in the Navy for a year — didn’t go anywhere, didn’t do anything. But I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game.”

Scully, who will turn 90 later this month, served in the navy before beginning his broadcasting career.

Thanks, Vin, I’ll always remember you, and be grateful for your respect of veterans.

Using prohibited drugs and beating up on women is just fine with old Vin, but protesting racism during the national theme song is where he draws the line? What a schmuck!

Got it. I didn’t know that many of the professional players have arrest records. I don’t watch football at all. Maybe Scully thinks that boycotting the sport over the actions of individuals isn’t called for, but since they’re carrying on with this en masse, to him that somehow makes a difference? Who knows? All I can say is there is no equal justice under the law. That’s apparent.

Typical military-obsessed society. Cannot grovel enough at the feet of those who go abroad to impose America’s domination on an innocent world. The military he’s so proud of has killed, directly or through proxies, 30 million since WW2. They have participated in 81 violent overthrows or interference in elections in that period, at least 20 of which were legal, democratically-elected governments.Sport & militarism have been long associated in the sport industry. Jets overfly football games. The entire country is repufecwith sentimental patriotism. Another manicured matinee-idol geriatric without an ounce of originality in his brain.
