If and when the FED induces a recession, we will most likely see deflation. The FED will protect the dollar because it must protect the dollar to protect the banks. Banks cannot survive in high inflation because the loss of the value of the money they are repaid on loans. The deflation may not last but a few years, but it may be very drastic.
