The President of Georgia serves a 5 year term and the current president’s term ends on December 16 this year (elected December 16, 2018)
It is hardly surprising that the US has seized the opportunity to use the President of Georgia (who has allied herself strongly with the country’s opposition) to push for regime change in Georgia under the guise of dissatisfaction with Foreign Agent legislation.
The US has until December to use the President for this purpose. Perhaps the Georgian government feels they can stall until then.
