The gas prices and diverse shortages will surely affect German manufacturing and make German products less competitive. Companies like Siemens or ABB may well become ripe for take-over by their American competitors. It reminds one of the controversial take-over of the French Alstom, approved by Economy Minister Macron. It was considered a great loss. Business leaders should be worried.

Because so many weapons are on the way to Ukraine from US, UK, Poland, and other sources, I don’t believe a slow strategy of encirclement is such a good idea. Time seems to be of the essence. Increasing use of air-power, missiles, and heavy weapons to destroy incoming supple shipments and to destroy rail, road, and other supply lines seems mandated. Rapid destruction of Ukrainian armed forces wherever they may be concentrated also seems necessary. I don’t find the news to be reassuring to opponents of the Kiev regime.

Yes I agree, but I think the Russians are worried about the escalation of the conflict and then NATO getting dragged into it. There will be no turning back after that….

Two weeks ago I was in Budapest. Prices are going through the roof much more compared to Germany. Hungarians are complaining. It put stress on Orban government.
