When the world’s most powerful military nation sees the need to organise its merchant ships into convoys… it becomes impossible to deny that a war is going on.
It is of course true that the Chinese navy is numerically the world’s largest. But that may suggest (wrongly) that its ships are less powerful than the USA’s. Today the power of a warship is measured simply by the power and number of its missiles; very large ships are simply very large targets.
If it comes to a scrap with the Americans trying to interfere with Chinese trade, the Chinese are superbly equipped to stop them doing so. Moreover, Russia is likely to help them, as well as some other countries.
I expect we are getting close to the time when Russia will take the gloves off and begin to go after Ukrainian leadership. Perhaps do so simultainiously with a major offensive to take Odessa and leave Ukraine a worthless rump State.
