Taking Odessa has ALWAYS been important and should have been done earlier. Odessa is the key to stopping, or diminishing, the trafficking and smuggling that goes in and out of Ukraine. Given that we all know that NATO want to have a large base in Romania, Russia needs to occupy the whole of that Ukrainian coast down to the Danube Delta at the Romania border, so that they control the access in and exit out of the Black Sea.
