Russian forces are still nowhere near the Dnieper. From Donetsk to Dniepropetrovsk is about 200 km (or about 125 miles, a surprisingly short distance); the closest Russian units are still about 130 km from Dniepropetrovsk. It’s easy to wave one’s arms and declaim about “a breakthrough into operational space” – but the Ukrainians have very strong drone forces, which could wreak havoc with tanks in the open countryside.
The US Congress has certainly been lied to – but that is what it wanted. This way it can make decisions, and if challenged it can cite the misinformation. “Nothing to see here – we did what we thought best, based on the information we were given”… by conveniently anonymous underlings.
