In this case, Alexander, I would argue that it is the US that is insulting Ukraïne. It is just that President Zelenskiy’s outrage is misplaced. By that, I mean that he invokes the wrong reason and, in doing so, he demonstrates his contempt for his citizens and his soldiers. What Zelenskiy should be stating, is that Ukraïne is fighting a proxy war on behalf of the US and the EU. I really can’t stand to listen to anything that supports what the US is doing. No one should trust the US, least of all Russia. The US always betrays its friends, breaks promises, and backs out of international agreements. I say “friends”, but the US only has friends of convenience that it abandons as soon as they are no longer of any use to it.
