Taiwan is the excuse, but de-industrializing China is the real goal. China is too much of a competitor, and the only real threat to US hegemony.
No! China is not the only threat to that hegemony. The rest of the world is aligning with BRICS to undermine US hegemony. And China will of course never yield to the West. It fought a 110 years fight to get rid of Western imperialism, and succeded. China will never give that victory away!
America (and the EU) are self destructing. The only question is how much damage they can do before they destroy themselves.
It’s like a child who wants to keep touching the hotplate. Once he succeeds and has to be rushed off to hospital for his wounds to be treated, he may learn that wasn’t a very intelligent thing to do.
It appears the U.S. hegemon may resort to nuclear weapons in a vain attempt to prevent it’s hegemony from passing to a civilized, peaceful country. Imagine a hegemon that utilizes trade instead of weapons to maintain hegemony
