Why BRICS Just Suspended Accepting New Members

The Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov  has just  announced the BRICS countries have decided to temporarily pause the process of admitting new members to the organisation. According to Lavrov this decision has been taken in order to allow time for the development of a new membership criteria. Rhod Mackenzie looks at this decision and the possible development possibilities of the BRICS going forward.
