As for the rumour about the Iranians trying to kill Mr Trump, I think “bizarre” is understating the case. To my knowledge, American politicians are many times more likely to be murdered by Israel than by Iran. I have never heard of Iran doing such a thing before. And, as Alexander points out, it would be not just useless but dramatically counterproductive.
Now I could easily believe that Israel would try to kill someone like Mr Trump and frame Iran for the killing. That sounds exactly like Mossad’s style.
The Israelis are in a quite similar position to the Kiev junta. Both have got themselves into wars that were meant to be over quickly, but now look like going on indefinitely – and both look like being destroyed by those wars.
Both Israel and Kiev are very prone to “fishing in troubled waters”, which leads them to aim for unlimited escalation in the hope of dragging the USA into a war. If that should happen in either theatre, the drastic consequences described in Greer’s novel might ensue – including the ultimate break-up of the USA as a nation.
A glance at the map reveals something that quite surprises me: while all, or almost all, of Lugansk oblast has been freed, a large part of Donetsk oblast is still behind the Ukrainian lines. Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk, for example, lie well within the borders of Donetsk oblast; yet the Russians are still far from capturing them. The same applies to substantial areas of both Zaporozhia oblast and Kherson oblast. So the Russians are still fighting hard without being even close to regaining all official Russian territory.
Sending Storm Shadows or anything similar to Ukraine looks like, in the words of Abraham Lincoln, shovelling flies across a room. The Russians took a month or two to analyse their modes of operation, and now Russian air defences can probably shoot them down on sight.
The Russian will take the time that decide is appropriate to save Russian lives in the SMO.The result will be what most of us thought it was going to be. Patience , wisdom and good planning wins every time.
Quite so! I can’t imagine why so many supporters of the War in Ukraine can’t realize the overwhelming facts on the ground & in the air, except that they are incredibly stupid & stubborn.
