USSA: Fascism reemerged; naked imperialism. A modern version of the Brownshirts (the Sturmabteilung), ICE is coming to a neighborhood near you.

In this post, I would like to tackle the issue of Fascism reemerging. We have great examples today, as there are three states in different stages of this reemergence: Israel, Ukraine, and the USA. While I am going to focus mostly on the USA, I will also use comparisons and parallels to Israel and Ukraine. These three states represent different stages of Fascist evolution. Israel represents the final stage, in which we have a Fascist ethno-religious state that is a mirror image of Nazi Germany. Ukraine represents the middle stage of this transformation, and current America represents the early stages.

First, I would like to address all those Nazi/Hitler “fanboys” who I see in the comments denying the Holocaust and Nazi atrocities. I don’t understand how those people don’t see that they are a mirror image of current citizens of Israel who deny the genocide in Gaza and the atrocities happening there. This mirror image perfectly explains to people asking how Nazi atrocities could happen; just as those Hitler fanboys say the Holocaust didn’t happen because the Nazi state said so, today we see Israeli citizens saying the genocide, atrocities, and starvation in Gaza are not happening because their state says so.

Like I have written many times, I spend a lot of time trying to understand the human mind; if I had to say what my specialty is, I would say it’s the human mind. I realized we live in what I call a “world of the naive” early in my life. When I did, I wanted to understand how people were able to create this world, so I got interested in philosophy, psychology, and behaviorism. Part of that investigation included trying to understand what happened in Nazi Germany. I already wrote in my previous post that I do not blame normal Germans for what happened because they were simply manipulated, in the same way I don’t blame Israeli citizens for what is happening because they are being manipulated.

Now we see over 50% of the Israeli population thinking there is no genocide or starvation in Gaza, just as most citizens of Nazi Germany didn’t think the Holocaust or other atrocities were happening. Images of concentration camps were not played on Nazi TV or in newspapers, just as images of Gaza are not presented to the population today. Just like simple German people didn’t understand what horrible atrocities were done in their name, Israeli citizens don’t understand what is being done in theirs.

Those denying the Holocaust don’t realize that if not for the modern information space we have, we would have very scarce information regarding what Israel is doing. Nazi Germany was lucky there were no smartphones or video recorders in their time, which allowed them to control the information space. Just like Israel is trying to hide its crimes, Nazi Germany did the same; they were simply luckier to exist in a time when information was easier to control.

Just as Nazi Germany was a Fascist state seeing Slavs and Jews as Untermensch to be exploited or exterminated, today we see Israel seeing Arabs — most importantly Palestinians — as Untermensch. There is truth that Nazi Germany first tried to expel Jews, offering them a chance to leave while confiscating their wealth, including the famous plan to expel them to Madagascar. Today, we see an Israeli plan to expel Palestinians to Somaliland while their land is confiscated. The parallels are so blatant that it’s shocking. I would write more on this subject, but I will end it here.

Ukraine

Ukraine represents the middle stage of this transformation. While this transformation into a Fascist ethno-religious state is in the middle stages in Ukraine, and happened in the case of Israel a long time ago, there are huge parallels between what happened in Ukraine and what is now happening in the USA. I would really recommend the video in one of my posts:

The videos in this post show very well this transformation happening in Ukraine. I mentioned that for this transformation an internal enemy is needed; just like Nazis in Germany had Jews, and just like Israelis have Arabs (mostly Palestinians), Ukrainians have Slavs or Moskals and Trump has immigrants. Just like Nazis saw Jews and Slavs as Untermensch, and Israelis see Arabs (mostly Palestinians) as Untermensch, Ukrainians see Slavs or Moskals as Untermensch and Trump has immigrants as his Untermensch. Ukrainians saw Slavs or Moskals as Untermensch and wanted them expelled from the state and probably their wealth also confiscated.

Now, since this transformation in Ukraine happened quite recently, we can see similarities to how it was done and what happened, which we can correlate to what is now happening in America. In this video, it’s also mentioned how it started with so-called "patriots" in the form of football hooligans terrorizing the population, beating up people using the Russian language, sympathizing with Russia, or having leftist views. This was well represented by the Massacre in Odessa when pro-Russian Ukrainians, who were deemed Untermensch Slavs or Moskals, were burned alive — including pregnant women — by those so-called "patriots." Just like Nazis were killing Jewish pregnant women and children, and just like Israelis call for killing pregnant women and children of Arabs, so Nazi Ukrainians had no problem killing pregnant pro-Russian Ukrainian women and children; after all, they are not human, they are untermensch.

This video is even more relevant now because of what is happening in America. You see all those masked so-called "patriots" — most of whom were football hooligans — later were deputized and formed Nazi organizations like Azov. You can see people running in masks, and you can see similar things in the video from the previous post I have attached. Now let's compare this to what is now happening in America and ICE. Just like those so-called "patriots" so football hooligans in masks run around and terrorize society, it bears a horrible similarity to what is happening in America today with ICE. Those so-called "patriots," football hooligans so Ukranian Nazis, and ICE in America, are modern versions of Brownshirts (the Sturmabteilung).

The problem is that while most of you didn’t see what happened in Ukraine, and images in those two videos I presented were hidden from the public, the same thing is really hard to do in America, which is why Trump now has a problem. During Nazi Germany times, horrible things done by Hitler's Brownshirts could be denied and hidden, just like it was done with what Israel's Brownshirts did since it was a long time ago and the information space was controlled. To some extent, they also were able to do this in the case of Ukraine, as represented by the fact that most of you didn’t see what happened there.

Now look at recent events with shootings in America by ICE. We literally have government people lying about what happened; now imagine what would happen if those events were not recorded? Lucky for Nazi Germany and their Brownshirts, they could commit horrible things and later the Nazi government would lie about them, just like the American government does today. The only difference is back in Nazi Germany times, those events were not recorded and therefore government lies were taken as true. Lucky for the Israeli Fascist transformation, it happened a long time ago like the Nazi one when the information space was controlled, and even the Ukraine transformation, since as we see most people didn’t see what really happened in Ukraine because information was still controlled.

Now America has a problem with its Fascist transformation because the information space cannot be controlled in the same way as it was during the Nazi Germany, Israeli, or Ukraine transformations. But the scheme of events is the same: designate part of the population as the enemy as an Untermensch, send goons with masks to terrorize the population and beat people, and tell the population those goons in masks do it for your protection and the people they are beating are your enemy. If during the Nazi and Hitler rise you had a camera in everyone's hands like we see today with everyone having smartphones, we would see exactly the same things. The only problem now is that the information space is not controlled as in the past, and that’s why now we hear so much about fighting "misinformation."

USSA, so America

Now, the same Fascist transformation which we saw in Ukraine, and which Israel and Nazi Germany went through, is happening in America. The parallels are eerily striking, especially when compared to what happened in Ukraine, which is a better-documented transformation. Just as in the cases of Nazi Germany, Israel, or Ukraine, an internal enemy has been designated as Untermensch, and we see masked goons terrorizing the population under the pretext of protecting them against internal enemies.

I didn’t want to use Michael Parenti's work before I had written a proper tribute to him, as he passed away last week. The Grayzone is about to release a tribute video to Michael Parenti featuring his son, Christian Parenti, based on which I would like to write my own tribute. He was my hero—RIP Michael Parenti. However, his work is so good and important that I could not leave it out of this post. Here is a video of Michael Parenti I have used before; I would like to highlight some fragments, but the whole video is great and, in my opinion, a must-watch if you haven't seen it already.

One thing Mussolini in Italy and Hitler in Germany did was claim there was a crisis and a threat, naming Communism and "the Left" as the culprits. They argued these people were threatening the nation, yet the Left was never actually powerful enough in either country to seize state power.

There was indeed a crisis, but it didn't stem from the Bolsheviks, the Communists, or the Jews; it came from within the system itself. It faced enormous internal contradictions: a falling rate of profit and declining consumption. Heavy industry, in particular, was in crisis, searching for new exports, imports, and various protections.

Those on the Left and the Jewish population became convenient, "irrelevant" enemies to blame. The German people knew they were being ripped off by industrial cartels, but if they had moved against German capitalism, they would have been moving in a genuinely revolutionary direction. Instead, they were told that "other people" were responsible—the trade unionists, the Communists, the Masons, or the allies who imposed the "terrible treaty" upon them. Behind all of them, propaganda placed "the Jew."

If you look at Nazi propaganda, it wasn't entirely irrational. Hermann Göring made a pointed remark: "If we are lunatics, then lunacy becomes us." They may have been crazy, but they weren't stupid. Their propaganda to farmers stressed the high interest rates they had to pay, blaming the Jews. To workers, they spoke of "rich Jewish bankers." To small business owners, it was "big Jewish department store owners." To the middle class, they claimed Jewish trade union leaders were funneling money to union workers while the middle class was getting squeezed. They honed their appeal to conjure up these irrelevant enemies to redirect hostility.

We see similar techniques today. For example, George Bush used the Willie Horton ad and targeted affirmative action and quota systems to redirect people's very real grievances. People — including "Joe Redneck" and "Archie Bunker" — are genuinely being ripped off by the system, but their anger is directed at Black people, Jews, or "welfare chiselers."

We have these same themes operating here: a kind of fascism without the swastika. Huey Long was right when he said that if fascism ever came to America, it would come under the name of "Americanism" and "super-patriotism."

The macroeconomic forces behind the rise of fascism the first time around bear a striking similarity to what is happening today. Economically, many of the same conditions are afflicting American industry and much of Western and Asian industrial capacity. Policies like cutting income taxes for big corporations and inheritance taxes for the rich — things Reagan did — mirror the actions of Mussolini and Hitler. Breaking labor unions is another shared tactic.

“Huey Long was right when he said that if fascism ever came to America, it would come under the name of 'Americanism' and 'super-patriotism.'” Fascism will come under "Americanism" and "super-patriotism," maybe like “America First" or MAGA (“Make America Great Again”). It was predicted, and the fact those predictions are coming true is really scary.

One topic I have not addressed in previous years is Hitler’s 1931 speech before the Industry Club of Düsseldorf. In that speech, he stated that democracy itself was inherently subversive and equated it with Communism. To make a very long story short, Hitler spoke to a group of industrial high-rollers who were highly receptive to his message. He used what could almost be viewed as a quasi-Calvinist approach, telling the assembled industrialists that democracy was subversive because they enjoyed a superior position in society due to their superior individual ability. He essentially told them they were "the elect."

He went on to say that if you allow people democracy, they will use it to effect a redistribution of wealth. He argued this would be unhealthy for society because it is "counter-evolutionary" — not counter-revolutionary, but counter-evolutionary. He equated democracy with Communism, and it was that speech that convinced most of the German industrialists and financiers to back Hitler and the Nazi Party rather than other reactionary parties.

Many American academics today do the opposite. They say nothing about the political economy of Nazism or Hitler’s appeals to big German capitalists. Instead, they look only at forms: the Nazis had big parades, the Communists had big parades, and both had authoritarian states. They treat Nazism and Communism as "totalitarian twins" that both victimized capitalism, which is simply not true.

At that 1931 meeting, the industrialists decided to start funding Hitler in a big way. They were looking him over to see if he was suitable; he was charming and reassuring, and as a result, he received an enormous amount of money. From 1931 to 1933, the Nazis were able to wage mass campaigns with cars, loudspeakers, and radio programs that reached every township in Germany. That meeting was a critical event in the rise of German fascism, and it has great relevance for a contemporary audience.

Although I am not a Marxist myself, I focus on many of these same themes to bring a historical awareness of fascism to a modern audience. Many American financiers and industrialists backed the fascist powers of Europe; in fact, they even tried to stage a coup here in 1934 to overthrow Franklin Roosevelt. Most Americans don't even know about the attempt to persuade General Smedley Butler of the US Marines to lead that coup.

The McCormack-Dickstein Committee held congressional hearings on the matter, but the report was censored. Journalists at the time, like John L. Spivak, noted things that never made it into the final report, which implicated J.P. Morgan and several others. The committee argued they had no absolute proof, but they likely got nervous because these men could pull off such a plot and go unpunished. They approached Butler because he was popular among the ranks, thinking he could lead the Marines in to leave Roosevelt as a figurehead while Butler wielded the real power in a "cooperative" government. Butler blew the whistle on them instead.

This 1934 coup attempt, Smedley Butler, and General Douglas MacArthur—the original first choice to lead the coup — are focal points of historical study. Looking back at that whitewashed report, one feels the same frustration as with the Iran-Contra investigation. The function of these investigations isn't exactly to whitewash; it’s to give the impression that the system is self-cleansing. They surface a few names and scandals to show they are "looking into it," but they make sure not to dig too deep into the muck.

The media obligingly goes along with this. The greatest cover-up in the Iran-Contra affair was the failure to call Vice President George Bush before the committee. The Germans have a term, Verharmlosung, which means "rendering harmless." These investigations render troublesome facts harmless. You can't allow the American people to be left with the impression that their government deals with terrorists or forms contingency plans for martial law; you have to point out that the "good guys" eventually come in and save the day.

While some are easily fooled, polls over the last twenty years show a remarkable decline in trust toward the military, the federal government, Congress, the media, and business leaders. The problem is that people don't see an alternative. What is often called "political apathy" is actually political cynicism and discouragement. It is antipathy that turns into apathy because people are disgusted. The system doesn't turn out mass numbers of conservative activists marching for tax cuts for the rich; it turns out cynical, uninformed, and ahistorical people who are distracted by consumer culture and mass media.

I wrote a book called Make-Believe Media: The Politics of Entertainment, arguing that entertainment films are filled with imagery of authoritarian power, racism, sexism, and anti-working-class themes. People are often told they are "bored" by history, but when you make history relevant, they realize the dynamics from 50 or 200 years ago are still obtaining today. They realize they are experiencing larger, repeatable forces.

The media is not a watchdog; it is more like a "frisky house pet" that occasionally nips at a leader’s heels but is otherwise a cheering section. During the Iraq War, they were a cheering section for the military. The media is clever at giving the impression of "false alternatives." In countries with state-controlled media, people know they are being censored. In America, people think the media is independent because they see two people arguing, but the debate always stays within a very limited framework. You will never hear this kind of discussion on a major network. The media are not just friendly to corporate America; they are corporate America. NBC is owned by General Electric; CBS is a multinational corporation. Media elites and government elites represent the same class interests.

It is grotesque to hear right-wing harping about the "liberal news media." If the media were liberal, I’ve missed it. To the far right, anything that reports a scandal or an unemployment figure is "too liberal." Their idea of good media is a constant celebration of free enterprise and anti-communist horror stories. In reality, almost all pundits — from Rush Limbaugh to William F. Buckley — are right-wing or centrist. There is no one genuinely progressive or critical of the left in the mainstream media. It is a right-to-centrist media.

Now I want to highlight this part, mostly because of the mention of Hitler’s 1931 speech before the Industry Club of Düsseldorf. Compare this event to Trump, who is now surrounding himself with billionaires and holding meetings with them. Hitler was an elite fascist, not a socialist. Just as he thought Jews and Slavs were untermensch compared to the German people, he also viewed normal German people as untermensch compared to German oligarchs, whom he saw as the real Übermensch.

This is not surprising considering the fact that eugenics was created and promoted by American oligarchs like Rockefeller, who justified the existence of the elite by saying oligarchs live in luxury while normal people starve — not because the system benefits them, but because those oligarchs are simply genetically or evolutionarily superior. Since eugenics was used by oligarchs to justify their existence, it is not surprising that Hitler saw the German oligarchy as superior to normal people.

This is why it makes me laugh when people say Hitler was a "people person" or a socialist; it is a joke, since he was an elitist who saw oligarchs as the true Übermensch. In the same way, Trump sees oligarchs as superior to simple American people, who are untermensch in his eyes by comparison. That is why Trump gives tax cuts to oligarchs and supports them, and why he talks about the "radical Left" in the same way Hitler spoke about communism.

CECOT: A Modern Labor Camp

Now I would like to bring up the CECOT prison as a modern version of a labor camp.

For people who would argue that the CECOT prison is good because it stopped crime, I would like to point out a fact that is often omitted: Bukele, the president of El Salvador, made a deal with gangs. Here is an article discussing it:

We speak with a Salvadoran journalist who fled El Salvador along with others from the acclaimed news outlet El Faro after Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele threatened to arrest them for exposing how Bukele had made secret deals with Salvadoran gangs.

The reason crime stopped was not because of the CECOT prison, but because of the government making a deal with gangs. I also want to point out that they have stopped due process. Now that Trump is sending people from America to CECOT, there have been cases of innocent people being sent there. We don’t know how many innocent people are imprisoned because, while those sent from America face at least a minimum of due process, people from El Salvador who are sent to CECOT often see no due process at all.

CECOT is a private prison that includes factories in which prisoners work. The American private prison system, which I discussed in my previous posts, shows us the horribly evil incentives this creates. It leads to situation where prisoners are profitable for oligarchs because they work as slave laborers. This results in "kids for cash" style cases where prison owners bribe judges to put more people in prison to fill their factories.

Former judges who sent kids to jail for kickbacks must pay more than $200 million

The two former Pennsylvania judges who orchestrated the scheme have been ordered to pay hundreds of people they victimized in one of the worst judicial scandals in U.S. history.

Those are only some of the articles you can check out. This is why America has the highest prison population in the world. I am not just talking about the percentage of the population; in America, the "land of the free" with a population of 342.3 million, you have 1.8 million in prison. In Communist, authoritarian China, with a population of 1.405 billion, you have 1.71 million. Even with a population four times larger, China still has fewer people in prison.

CECOT is also a private prison using prison labor, creating incentives where prisoners are profitable as slave labor. When fewer people commit crimes and factories lack labor, the lack of due process in El Salvador means they can simply take people from the street and turn them into slaves to be exploited. This is a modern version of slavery. This is exactly what Nazi Germany did with their concentration camps. The only difference was that German camps had a steady flow of people including women, the sick, and children; since some could not work, they were simply exterminated because no profit could be extracted from them. American private prisons are already labor camps, but what is happening in CECOT is the next level and eerily similar to Nazi work camps.

Brownshirts Coming to a Neighborhood Near You

For Europeans who think they are safe, in my opinion, you are wrong; after America, we are next. First, I would like to point out that I have been writing about Polish politics, noting that right-wing parties in Poland like PiS and Konfederacja (the Polish version of the AfD) are working with American Neocon/Zionist factions. Recently, Alex spoke about former Polish President Duda, who was with the PiS party, joining a think tank connected to Project 2025. This is the Neocon/Zionist organization behind Trump that wrote the agenda which fits perfectly with what I suggested. I also pointed out how the current President of Poland, Nawrocki, ass kissed Trump so much it made me sick. Now I also hear praise for Orbán; while I agree with him on some things, Orbán also makes me sick for shaking hands with Benjamin Netanyahu (Mileikowsky). This is no surprise, as he works with Neocon/Zionist factions as well.

This document mentions Austria, Hungary, Italy, and Poland—and guess what? Meloni is bringing American "Brownshirts" (ICE) to Europe.

That is why Italy was mentioned; they are bringing American "Brownshirts" (ICE) to Europe. This is what I predicted. I wrote that when the AfD and other right-wing parties win in Europe, we will get neoliberal economics with all the "wonders" of the free market  —like the freedom to die on the street when you get sick because national healthcare is "communism," the freedom to become a debt prisoner for education because national education is "communism," the freedom to live on the street while working full-time because the minimum wage is "communism," and having zero paid vacation because labor laws are "communism."

At the same time, we will get other "freedoms": the freedom to get beaten by masked officers like those in ICE, the freedom of being completely invigilated by a security state, and perhaps even a private prison system — because state-owned prisons are "communism," right?

I will end here. I haven't felt well lately, which is why I haven't written more, and I am sorry if the quality of this post is not the best. I simply wanted to write something even while feeling bad. I am scared for our future. While I don’t have kids myself, I am afraid for my friends' kids because of the world we are leaving them. The worst thing is that most people don’t understand what I am talking about; they will welcome all of this because they see it as the only way to fight the "internal enemy" of immigrants — our Untermensch — not understanding that the immigrant crisis was intentionally created to make people accept everything I have described.

I will leave you with one thing: stop thinking you are smarter than the people who rule and own our world. I too often hear people saying our leaders are "stupid," which is arrogant and plays into their hands. It’s like saying leaders were "stupid" for thinking WMDs existed in Iraq. We know they knew they didn't exist; they lied. In the same way, the immigrant crisis was not a mistake; it was designed so that you would fear an internal enemy and concede to things you normally wouldn't. Unlike most people, I don’t think our leaders are stupid; I think they are geniuses, but also evil. If your analysis leads you to think they are stupid, your analysis is likely wrong. They are not stupid, and if you think they are, you have already failed to understand what is really happening.

“Its existence was no accident.” What is now happening is not an accident or a mistake caused by "stupid" rulers. If we want to understand what is happening, we need to focus on “understanding why” it is happening.
