“Influence” is one thing: bombing and kidnapping is quite another.
Against any serious enemy the US Navy is nothing but a collection of targets. Aircraft carriers have been obsolete, except for gunboat diplomacy, since the 1960s. Russia is sensible to avoid building carriers, China is doing so because it has such immense industrial capacity it can afford to do everything. Moreover, Chinese warships will usually operate close to China, under the umbrella of land-based aviation and missiles. No matter how much damage is inflicted from the air, territory cannot be occupied and held without boots on the ground. (Consider North Korea, where almost every building was flattened). If the Americans… Read more »
It would be a terrible shame if all the CIA’s buildings and bases were suddenly to be destroyed by mysterious unidentified missiles. Luckily that could never happen because of all the money it has.
If a group of people finds a rabid dog in their midst, they cooperate to deal with it.
When will the nations of the world do that?
Clown world made flesh.
How can the guys who got Ukraine so right get Venezuela so wrong?
Donald Trump is the World’s biggest Criminal, this Immoral scumbag has even eclipsed the murdering Jew Benjamin Netanyahu.
Not sure if it is actually true, but I read somewhere that Brazil blocked Venezuela’s entrance to BRICS. Ever since Lula spent time in prison he has been playing a double game, being a member of BRICS but appeasing the US on certain key issues.
The notion that Latin America as a whole is “the backyard of the US” is a purely rhetorical one. In reality, the geographical distance between Washington and various capitals (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay) is much larger that the distance between Washington and all the capitals of Western Europe, and even some of Eastern Europe.

The major difference is the US Military can drive from the state of Maine or Washington, all the way to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay, which technically makes south America “the backyard of the US”.
For once I agree with Trump’s actions. Although it is potentially sad for S American people, I fully understand the US’s need to keep China out of S America.
Re: “Although it is potentially sad for S American people”
Nothing could be sadder then the Marxian economic mess that Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro made of Venezuela, which has the largest oil reserves in the world, and Venezuela’s monthly minimum wage in Venezuela is 130 bolívares (VES), which is equivalent to approximately $0.50 USD as of late 2025.
But despicable Marxists will blame everyone and everything for the economic woes of Venezuela, but never the unworkable Marxian economic system.
Somebody mentioned in a video talking about how China is importing silver from S American countries as the liquid concentrate from heap leach or other preliminary processing, and asking HOW were they transporting that silver liquid concentrate to China???? Oil tankers would be ideal….
And now from 1 Jan 2026, China, as the No 1 refiner of siler in the world, has put absolutely 100% impossible-to-fulfill rules on exporting silver to any country, especially targetting the West.
So maybe Trump is interdicting South American silver as well as Venezuelan oil.
