Starmer, Macron, and the others are “wasting their time” not “although”, but BECAUSE their countries are in such deep trouble. Owing, largely, to their gross incompetence and dishonesty. Their standard reaction is to stick their fingers in their ears, sing “La La La I can’t hear you!”, and blame Mr Putin.
Frankly, political failure is not nearly severe enough punishment. Such treasonous neglect of duty merits a firing squad.
If the Italian government’s finances are in better shape than France’s – doesn’t that mean that France’s are in worse shape than Italy’s?

To be fair (although I really, really don’t want to) to Lindsey Graham, he is not in charge of the USA’s foreign policy – or anything else. That responsibility is theoretically Marco Rubio’s, although in practice Mr Trump makes policy on the hoof (or the screen) in reaction to whatever comes up his back.
