It’s interesting to compare the fires in Los Angeles with the bombardment of Gaza, not least in regard to the amount of attention and resources that have been focused on each. And the number of deaths in each place.

After nearly 70 years, are we going to see the plot of Frank Herbert’s 1956 novel “The Dragon in the Sea” (aka “Under Pressure”) reversed? The story is set in a 21st century where the USA is itself under enormous pressure, facing almost single-handed the “Eastern Powers” (EP) which control all of Eurasia. The UK has been blasted into a radioactive desert, and the seas for hundreds of miles around are no-go areas because of intense radiation. The USA desperately needs oil, and paradoxically has found a source: an oil well drilled into Novaya Zemlya, far underwater. The problem is… Read more »

Funny, isn’t it, how Americans – even billionaire “entrepreneurs” – fail to understand the free market?

Seizing ships at sea is an act of war. BRICS nations are obligated to defend and rescue these ships. Russia can use force to defend them. Freedom of navigation. Sea law is older than the USA. Even the Law of Sea Treaty for which DoD US navy violate daily. There is not 3-6 months left in the Ukraine War. Gas prices will rise in dollars not cents when the war expands. Trump has no appointments yet by phony GOP Senators just like 2017 who will block his appointments. Trump must fire 100% of Biden appointments to force GOP Senators. Commie… Read more »

Trump has not learned anything.
One only needs to look at his ridiculous appointments to see this.

Zelensky claiming Ukraine captured two North Koreans. Seems weak but most interesting is the claim South Korean military intelligence is interrogating them in Kiev. That means South Korea is a belligerent in the war. Has soldiers on the ground itself. Meaning it is at war with Russia. An American ally at war with Russia. This is the real admission by Zelensky. Tomorrow you might know more.

After 2 years of living a very privileged life in Evergreen & Denver CO, in 1995 I gave back my Green Card at the US Embassy in Eritrea. Numerous actions by USA.GOV since then have confirmed that decision.

Having left UK for S Africa in 1984, I have spent several months in, and been accepted as for residence in, Ireland, NZ and Canada, but SA has always drawn me back, and each day that passes confirms that decision also.

I am happy to be a Collective West refugee in Africa!

I find it difficult to have any sympathy for the evacuees in Los Angeles. California and Los Angeles in particular have been Marxst SHTHOLES for many Decades. These peole either vote the Marxists into office or tolerate voting fraud and the Criminal activity. To voluntarily continue to live in and pay tribute ( taxes ) to this Criminal State is in effect giving support and legitimacy to it. It’s the same as not having sympathy for someone who continues living in NYC and then gets mugged, assaulted, raped or murdered. Sorry, but when you play in the middle of the… Read more »

I understand your sentiments. The US has always enjoyed dishing it out to others (starting with the native inhabitants of their land) and not caring who gets hurt in the process and I, too, find it hard to sympathise.

I’m not sure of your point about native Americans but the people of California are doing it to themselves…

They were the very first recipients of the violence of a state that wanted to eradicate them.

Surely the goal of a public inquiry is to prevent the truth from coming out. If I look back at some of these, most of them were cover-ups. In fact the child abuse inquiry under Baroness Jay (I think) refused to let people with real information give evidence. There was much criticism when Blair was whitewashed under the Iraq inquiry when the judge announced that its terms were very narrow and he couldn’t go places the public wanted him to go. Back in 1990 the inquiry into the King’s Cross fire left out what was extremely pertinent information as to… Read more »
