By the time the Ukraine war is over, the relations between Russia and the EU will be so badly damaged, the EU will not have direct access to to Russian energy regardless of how much they attempt to backtrack. This will hasten the demise of the EU which is a major goal of the Trump Administration. The collapse of the EU and the Euro, with serve to strengthen the dollar as a reserve currency giving the US increasing power over Europe.
I’m told this is why the US initiated the conflict in Ukraine in 2014. I don’t remember EU-Russian relations being bad before then.
