MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The deliveries of Russian S-400 air defense systems of to Turkey will begin within two years, Ismail Demir, Turkey’s Undersecretary for Defense Industries, said Monday.
Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia earlier said Moscow and Ankara had recently signed a contract on the delivery of Russian S-400 systems to Turkey, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that Ankara had made the first payment for the missile systems.
“A lot of reports on this topic lead to even more confusion. Of course, the date for the beginning of supplies has been determined, but I do not want to mention a specific date, as talks are being conducted with the Russian side to move it closer, but I can say that the deliveries will begin within at least two years,”
Turkish Anadolu news agency quoted Demir as saying.
