Trump’s Phoney “Phony War”

History does not of course repeat, but the onset of the “phoney war” in Europe from 1939 has a few interesting parallels to US threats, regarding continuing US threats versus Iran — a war that is now “paused” via a phoney ceasefire.

The Gleiwitz incident of 31 August 1939 concerned sabotage of a German radio station by Poles, where the accepted narrative – likely false – is that German soldiers posed as Poles in uniforms of Poland’s army, in a sabotage attack on that radio station. Whether the official account is factual history or not [1] at least the Gleiwitz incident provided some pretext for the German invasion and occupation of Poland at that time.

Before the US/Israeli attack on Iran in June of 2025, IAEA official Grossi lied in essence, writing that Iran had nuclear development capability that could result in a weapon, providing the pretext for the US “twelve day war on Iran”, from June 22, 2025.

Grossi’s lies about Iran’s nuclear program were bad enough, but Trump caught himself in his own nuclear lie, stating that “Iran’s nuclear capability had been destroyed”, then reversed himself before the February 28th US/Israeli attack on Iran.

In brief, at least the Germans had the Gleiwitz incident as their pretext for invading and occupying Poland in 1939 (“phoney” or not) whereas the US nuclear pretext for war on Iran is as phoney as the assertion that Saddam Hussien possessed WMD’s. In fact, only recently did the United States reveal that it attacked Iran on February 28th, 2026, at the behest and request of Israel.

Atomic watchdog says Iran not complying with nuclear safeguards

The UN-backed atomic watchdog passed a resolution on Thursday declaring that Iran is not complying with its obligations regarding nuclear non-proliferation.

Furthermore, it may be unfair to compare the Anschluss annexation of Austria by Germany in March, 1939, to the US abduction of Venezuela’s leader and subsequent prima facie submission of Venezuela to US rule, but Venezuela may yet become a full vassal state to the US. (But notably, Venezuela will not be a belligerent ally state, with regard to US / Israeli global aggression.)

Likewise, it may be unfair to compare the warfare state of Israel to Mussolini’s fascist Italy (with regard to Italy’s inclusion in the Axis powers) since Israel, the US mad dog on a questionable leash, is far more dangerous and authoritarian as a bogus “state” than Italy ever was.

In the “phoney war” period prior to the onset of hostilities with Britain and France in World War Two, Hitler’s threats and provocation from his public podium for all-out war in Europe at that time, certainly coincide with the language and threats that Donald Trump dictates every day about Iran from Truth Social, and via the White House.

There is a significant difference between the phoney war of 1939 and now however, because Germany could effectively act on its threats, whereas the US is restricted in its ability to act on its threats with regard to re-opening the Strait of Hormuz. And the Nazi leader did not typically lie about prosecuting his imperial aims, whereas the Trump regime continually lies about its agenda.

Likewise, Tech Bros and the concept of Disruption Innovation of course did not exist during the 1920’s- 30’s. While Tech Bros Disruption Theory is held in full esteem by Donald Trump and his cronies, it seems that all commentators overlook the fact that Trump, his family, and corporate backers (wall street donors) are fully in favour of Disruption Theory in practice, and that Trump’s regime is actively implementing disruption as a favorable political and economic end in itself: (Unfortunately for Trump, the same Disruption Theory — in practice — will hopefully see him “removed from office” asap.)

Implementation of this disruptive theory concept has, for example, resulted in Trump’s assertion that the US may largely supplement (if not entirely replace) the Gulf Fiefdoms — and Iran — as the major supplier of oil and LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) to the rest of the world. That is not “disruption theory” in practice however, but a harebrained ill-advised fantasy of an increasingly delusional US hegemon.

Most phoney of the phony however is Trump’s recent pronouncement via his “Truth Social” rag, that the former United States is capable (somehow) of re-opening the Strait of Hormuz, that Iran wisely restricted when Israel and the USA undertook illegal aggression versus Iran on February 28th. 2026. Trump’s “Project Freedom” for the Persian Gulf is as phony as any lying phony pronouncement this disgrace of a regime has ever made.

The US leader admits that the former United States can only engage in piracy...and that he cannot extricate himself from the most massive blunder any US president has made since March of 2003. And like the magician diverting attention with one hand while tricking the audience with the other, Trump’s kabuki theater of insanity is designed to divert from the true intent of the elephant in the room — namely Israel — which must keep the Iran war on the cards for as long as possible.

Meanwhile western Captured Media reports do indicate that the US phony war is now a phony phony war. Just as the US lied about being attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin, there is distinct possibility that the US rogue regime (and its mad dog) will leverage some Iranian defense versus US military activity in Iran’s waters, to re-start the US/.Israeli aggression versus Iran. [2]

At which point Trump’s phony war will morph from being a phony war into a real of aggression versus Iran, once again.

[1] The entirety of proof for this “false flag” attack is sourced from SS-Sturmbannführer Alfred Naujocks. When the war ended, Naujocks was a prisoner at the Nuremberg court where Naujocks had a pressing reason to lie about the Gleiwitz incident, to obtain leniency from the court. Fact is, Poland was desperate to draw England and France into the war, and most likely Polish saboteurs carried out the Gleiwitz radio station attack.
