Larry Johnson: U.S. Attack on Kharg Island Will Destroy the Gulf States
Larry Johnson is a former intelligence analyst at the CIA who also worked at the US State Department’s Office of Counterterrorism.
Iran is in a unique position to put a stranglehold on 25% of the world economy’s oil supply coming through the Straight of Hormuz. They are demanding the withdrawal of all US military bases from the Gulf region, the end of all sanctions against Iran and payment of reparations for the US act of aggression against Iran. The US is strategically lost, and Iran will soon be in a position to dictate the terms of US surrender. Until then, Iran will continue to hit US bases in the oil emirates. The idea of the US sending marines to take Kharg Island is a fantasy. The idea of somehow landing 15000 Marines on it to take control of the island is ridiculous. Kharg is completely flat; the Marines would be defenseless against Iranian attacks coming from the mainland. Yes, the US could take out Iran’s oil infrastructure there, which they have not done so far. If they do that, Iran will take out the oil infrastructure of all the countries in the Gulf, including Saudi Arabia. There will be no oil coming from the region for years, and there will be a world-wide economic depression. Meanwhile, Iran is also pounding Israel with three waves of missiles per day, each missile packing a ton or more of explosives. Ben Gurion airport is closed and Israeli citizens are forbidden to leave, as Operation Epstein Fury rolls on.
