Republicans do not control Congress. GOP registered elected are the majority. There is no republican majority. Trump has one appointee from the GOP Senate. One out of thousands. Trump will not have his nominations for two years. You Europeans seem to always wrongly equate voter registration to party control. Like a parliament. The US politics is nothing like you speak. Many elected register to the majority voter registration to simply get elected. Just like you all think Trump is being told the truth by DoD. DoD is worse than the CIA. Hence Trump citing DoD death numbers in Ukraine. Total… Read more »

Oliver Cromwell was everything that Mr Mercouris listed – good and bad. Arguably, he implemented the transition to constitutional monarchy with less chaos and bloodshed than the French Revolution – but it is arguable. Hours or days later, he would emerge and announce that he now knew God’s will. A cynic would suggest that God’s will always coincided with Cromwell’s preferences; but it was a marvellously effective way of preempting opposition. “What? You disagree with… Read more »

After all, it’s really none of the USA’s business – except insofar as it’s accepted that the USA provoked and engineered the fighting. So, while inviting dialogue, Mr Putin puts on record that the only US standing in the matter is that of instigator and aggressor. I hope that when Mr Putin expresses willingness to talk, he makes it perfectly clear that there will be absolutely no weakening or concessions. Talk, yes by all… Read more »

Zelensky knows perfectly well he can’t win the war – period. Nor can he avoid losing it.

As I’ve said before, the “open” pardons are like a “Get Out of Jail Free” card in Monopoly. Presumably a permission to commit ONE (1) felony without any risk of punishment. Or is it any number of felonies?

The Israeli war to get rid of the Palestinians is unlike anything else since the Nazi attempt to exterminate the Slavs or drive them out into the wilds of Siberia. Both were modelled on the European colonists’ extermination (very nearly) of the Native Americans. When invaders set out to exterminate the native people and steal their land and all their possessions, it is not like a regular war with limited objective, which can be ended by negotiation. It is more like an attack by a predator on a prey animal. There is no possibility of negotiation; either the predator eats… Read more »
