Looks like the plot to carve up Syria continues after a long pause. Turkey wants northern Syria, Israel wants the south, and the USA wants a puppet Kurdish state with its non-Arab Kurd merc army in the east. This had almost succeeded until the Russians intervened in 2015. But most of the Russians and their aircraft returned to fight in Ukraine so now is a good time to restart the effort. It will be easier for Israel to then attack Lebanon from the east after their failed effort to push up fortified and mountainous southern Syria.
