Alexander mentioned, in passing, European citizens’ perception that they pay a lot of taxes and get very little in return. The great Will Rogers put it this way:
“Be thankful we’re not getting all the government we’re paying for”.
My take on the changes is that it boils down to diverse individuals needing real money to conduct trade to run their lives. Governments, bureaucrats, oligarch bankers don’t grasp that. Real money is a measuring and trading unit of exchange based on a media that humans cannot increase at will and that is naturally scarce. Historically the media of gold and silver found itself adopted into the money role by natural markets for that reason. So did rare sea shells. More recently so did Bitcoin.
