A fascinating conversation between Ray McGovern and Consortium News analysts Joe Lauria and Patrick Lawrence. Ray continues to think that Trump is going to try to make a deal similar to the JCPOA but called something else, such as the JCPOT (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Trump) which will deal only with nuclear issues. This is what Netanyahu fears. What Israel wants is regime change in Iran. He wants the ballistic missiles and an end to Iranian support for Hezbollah and Hamas to be part of the negotiations just so that they will be guaranteed to fail. For Trump, however, they offer the best way out of a bad situation. He can paint lipstick on this pig. He can keep sending aircraft carriers to the region and then claim that he scared Iran into a deal. Israel and its Lobby will be furious. They will threaten to release material from the Epstein files on Trump that no one has yet seen. Trump’s name and picture are all over those files. I imagine he gets a number of mentions second only to Epstein himself. They will probably also threaten to use nukes on Iran if Trump stays out. Everyone in this discussion agrees that Trump is narcisistic, megalomaniacal and delusional, but Ray still hopes that even the Zionists who control Trump have enough sense of self-preservation not to want Israel to be “obliterated” by an Iranian missile attack. Nobody knows what will happen next, but at least we have ringside seats!
