The Art of the Publicity Stunt

Trump softened his stance on Greenland, saying he does not need to acquire it using the military, he can just buy it. I still think that is what he intends to do. However, the bond market was getting nervous, and when the bond market speaks, Trump listens. Trump also has some very good reasons for not attacking Iran, which has made it clear that if Israel or the US attacks again, it means all-out war. Iran will launch an all-out missile attack on Israel, on US bases in the area and on the Arab oil emirates. It will also close the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off oil supplies to the West. Even the grip of the Zionist Lobby might not be enough to force President Trump to authorize such an attack.

I would say that the suggestion that both Greenland and Iran are cases of “TACO Trump” just puts a kind of label on him that does not explain anything. Alastair is not saying that. Trump is far more concerned about what happens in November than anything else. Venezuela was a publicity stunt that worked as such. Greenland is also a publicity stunt that may also work to let him say he is a historically great president in his campaign speeches. The US bombing of the Iranian nuclear development sites, which in fact accomplished nothing significant, was also a publicity stunt. But Trump also knows that the American public is sick of war, which is what he campaigned on, and that any prolonged action in Iran would be very unpopular, especially if it involved Americans coming home in body bags, which it would. Coupled with the instant crash in the stock and bond markets when the Strait of Hormuz is closed, this would be political death for Trump, says Alastair. If the Zionist forces are strong enough to force him to do it, it would be political suicide, and Trump knows it. Israel may be apocalyptical enough to do it anyway, but can they make Trump shoot himself in the head, politically? I can’t see Trump doing that.
