Every empire succumbs to moral hazard and corruption. The policies and actions of the US and Europe are not designed in the interest of the countries and the peoples, but in the interests of the people in positions of power. To Russia and China, wars are a matter of survival, and are therefore existential, and must be won regardless of cost. To the US and Europe, wars are for profit adventures and like any buisness venture that does not pay off, are abondened when the costs exceed the profits.
