I do not see why nuclear weapons in space would give the Russians any more superiority than their ability to shoot hypersonic missiles into space and take out US satellites. They have already practised it successfully by shooting down one of their own old satellites. The Russians and Chinese also seem to have electronic superiority in their military hacking units and can effectively take out 5/6G transmitters selectively and interfere in military hardware programs. Nukes in space would seem too simplistic.
