I think the EU’s policy towards Jacques Baud is along the lines of, “He is a Bad Person and contradicts Us, and therefore no one is to talk to him or have anything to with him”.
The EU’s statements remind me of Orwell’s “Politics and the English Language”.
“Political language – and with variations this is true of all political parties, from Conservatives to Anarchists – is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind”.
It’s not for nothing that people have long been talking about the “EUSSR”.
Am I right in believing that “sanctions” declared by the US government, the EU, or other national governments have absolutely no legal force? I don’t know of any right that those institutions have to tell others what they may and may not do.
As far as I can see, all “sanctions” amount to nothing more than systematic blackmail. And blackmail is frowned on by law.
This has been my question for a long time. How can the EU or the US tell other sovereign countries what they can buy and sell and what they cannot? What also puzzles me is why the sanctioned countries go along with the charade.
Further to the likely collapse of the European banking system… I ask yet again,
“When can we expect the hangings?”
I’m reminded of a slogan of those who marched against the Iraq war: ‘how did our oil get under their soil’?
