I do remember that Russians were not keen on Nord Stream 2 and blame Putin for having a soft spot for Germany.
Funny enough, some people who seemed to me to be well-informed about German affairs and the gas and oil industry, were very skeptical when I spoke to them about this. Somehow they are convinced that it must have been Putin’s dream to go ahead with Nord Stream 2
Excellent synopsis of EU/German energy policy vis-a-vis Russian natgas. One missing point: a significant reason for the Greens’ opposition to nuclear power generation is the fact that the waste byproduct is refined for use in building nuclear weapons, which is deemed unconscionable.
