It is actually risky sending into space all the stuff that we have been shooting up there for the past few decades. It was estimated in August 2021 that there are about 23,000 bits of space debris orbiting the Earth. There are also half a million pieces that are 1 centimetre or larger, about 100 million that are 1 millimetre or larger, as well as countless smaller particles. A few days ago, the U. N. Outer Space Objects Index reported that there were around 7,500 active satellites in low Earth Orbit (LEO) as of September 2021. There are also about 3,000 inactive satellites.… Read more »

India, China, the US, and Russia have all successfully destroyed their own defunct satellites in the past. SPACE estimates that the majority of the material from the Russian satellite will come down to earth within about five years while China’s last test still has “a lot of debris” coming down after 14 years. So why the fuss now with Russia destroying its satellite? The problem seems to be either because it’s a new technology or else an older one that hasn’t been used to destroy a satellite before.

They destroy a satellite in the orbit but cannot even regulate their local bus transport down on earth, kicking off people from busses in Kazan, Tatarstan, who have not got the devilish vaccination that is supposed to help against COVID; What sort of helplessness is this? Russia should regulate its worldly problems at home, down on earth, before flying high into the Cosmos!
