Sometimes Alexander can be so naive! Why do you think the West isn’t reporting on the ATACMs strikes inside Russia anymore? Because when Russia finally does respond, the West can claim “unprovoked” once again. It’s not rocket science.

The second ATACMS strike might conceivably have been launched by the Kiev junta precisely to tempt Russia into hitting back at NATO assets. That would be in line with Kiev’s consistent – and desperate – efforts to set Russia and the USA at one another’s throats.

Therefore the Russian response would best be limited to Ukraine. If there happen to be foreigners illegally present, that would be their lookout.

Mr Mercouris finds the behaviour of Western governments “irresponsible”. Of course, it is obviously absurd that the FBI should be allowed to spy on conversations between the designated representative of the US government and a foreign government. Indeed, the officials who did that should themselves have gone to prison for very long terms. Their only possible excuse would be that Mr Trump was only President-elect at the… Read more »

Escalating sanctions against Iran should certainly work as intended. After all, it worked perfectly against Russia.

Moreover, if attempts are made to enforce such sanctions, it would be a marvellous way of antagonising India and China, the world’s largest nations and both nuclear super-powers.
