Absurd confusion in the West re Gideon Rachman’s FT article “biggest obstacle to peace”: I suspect the assumption of Russia’s “subjugation” of the remaining territory of Ukraine in the wake of Ukrainian defeat and ceding of territories, actually implies a desperate fear of retribution against the Kiev regime resulting from inevitable tribunals and conviction and punishment of those war criminals aka denazification. Alex, when comparing decisions made during this Ukraïnian conflict and WW2, one must always remember that the US made a conscious and early decision to require and unconditional surrender from Germany and Japan. One could argue that this was the dominant factor that prolonged the war for so long, especially in the Pacific, but there is no doubt that, especially in the decision to use the atomic bombs, unconditional surrender was the essential factor. Alex, I would argue that Moscow does already have contingency plans for territories west of the Dniepr River. Based on your own continuous and adjusted assesssments, those Russian plans might equally be subject to changes, as the situation evolves.
The powers that be know in their hearts that the Ukies are going nowhere, other than the knackers yard that is. The whole charade has to be given some gloss by the Powers that Be PTB. But the whole exercise is simply a ridiculous farce.
