The entire shipbuilding industry moved to asia pacific more than 50 yr ago. In terms of tonnage, the vast majority of ships and offshore facilities are built there now. The remaining european shipbuilding is mostly military with some remnant cruise ship business. Lloyds and DNV and some smaller classification societies are technically strong and combined with financial strength do still insure ships, but eventually, like ABS in the US, are destined to shrink into irrelevance.
