Converting office buildings to residential, is not financially feasible. The cost of the conversion added to the cost of the building to begin with makes the resulting units converted to be millions per unit. In addition, there is huge maintenance costs on an office buildings making it necessary to have very expensive HOA expenses that never go away. Now add the cost of financing at 7-8% interest rates in a recessionary environment and it all adds up to an unfeasible solution.
