“Raw, Unvarnished Tyranny” in Britain

Kit Klarenberg reports on the dire threat to freedom of speech in Britain. Antiwar journalists can no longer live in Britain. George Galloway is currently in Moscow. They will be arrested, as will all antiwar demonstrators, and charged as threats to national security. He describes the civil rights situation in Britain regarding the targeting of antiwar activists, journalists, and academics as raw, unvarnished tyranny, similar to historical fascist societies, and that elite forces believe they will face no real-world political or legal ramifications for these actions. The British state is hauling people in off the street based on false allegations of working for Russia simply because they oppose NATO, and that it has become an almost weekly occurrence for prominent dissident voices to be detained under sweeping, uncertain powers. Will the British people put up with it as the Germans did in the 1930’s? Will the United States follow in the British footsteps as it so often does, or will there be a greater resistance to fascist oppression in this country? It remains to be seen.
