Monday is the 4th of July. As “Independence Day” in the US, it celebrates the declaration by the British colonies, mostly on Atlantic Coast, of separation from Great Britain. After almost two and one-half centuries, this is a good time for an assessment of whether it should celebrated. An obvious but, nonetheless, intriguing conclusion to events now nascent in the Caspian and Black Seas speculated with the import they deserve for the future of NATO and, by consequence, the USA. Someday, my country, the USA, may be rewarded for the stupidity and arrogance of its oligarchs by finding itself no longer even a regional hegemon in the Western Hemisphere, let alone the world’s dominating power.
