Monday is the 4th of July. As “Independence Day” in the US, it celebrates the declaration by the British colonies, mostly on Atlantic Coast, of separation from Great Britain. After almost two and one-half centuries, this is a good time for an assessment of whether it should celebrated. The day may not be a time for mourning, because we have no way of knowing what adherence to the British Crown would have developed. It may be argued that the world would now be in a worse condition. As Erik Hoffer said:  ‘Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket.’ The American Government is now at the racket stage. Unless and until we discover how to break this pattern, it will be repeated over and over again. One of the first steps would be to be able to identify and disarm psychopaths. These agressive and narcissistic individuals need to be isolated and prevented from running the show.

An obvious but, nonetheless, intriguing conclusion to events now nascent in the Caspian and Black Seas speculated with the import they deserve for the future of NATO and, by consequence, the USA. Someday, my country, the USA, may be rewarded for the stupidity and arrogance of its oligarchs by finding itself no longer even a regional hegemon in the Western Hemisphere, let alone the world’s dominating power.
