Professor Jeffrey Sachs: The Iran War Will Break America

The US Empire is collapsing and is now led by the insane Trump administration. Like Israel, we are bent on antagonizing the rest of the world, even friendly neighbors like Canada. We do not have one single diplomat capable of negotiating agreements. Professor Sachs has been saying for months that the US does not have to negotiate with Iran, just turn around and sail away. Hormuz and the Red Sea will open up and oil will continue to flow from Saudi Arabia to the rest of the world as the production infrastructure destroyed by the war is repaired. But that is something that Trump’s enormous ego will not permit. Instead, we are now talking about using nuclear weapons. Congress is sold out to the the Military Industrial Complex and the Israel Lobby. Our Supreme Court’s decision on campaign financing has turned Congress into a sea of corruption. All our institutions are collapsing, and there is serious doubt coming from Sachs, Ray McGovern and others about whether Trump will allow anything like a fair election in November that could result in his impeachment and conviction. Listen to Professor Sachs eloquently describe this total collapse into insanity. The only hope offered is that all our problems are self-inflicted, so nothing but a change in our own behavior is needed to fix them. But Trump is psychologically incapable of admitting his own responsibility for the problems that he has created. He can’t admit he made a mistake. Some enemy always has to be blamed, and the only way to deal with that enemy is with force.
