This environmental disaster is right in the middle of Amish country, in other words, organic farming country with what was pure air, soil and water. So maybe this is why they don’t care. It is hard to find a conflict/war that doesn’t have the acquisition or control of fossil fuels as a major motivating factor, I posted a comment recently about the military-industrial-congressional-complex’s role in instigating wars. I also implicated other financial interests. The fossil fuels-industrial-congressional-complex (ff-i-c-c) is at least as instigative and supportive of conflicts as the military-i-c-c. Russia and Ukraine both have huge reserves of fossil fuels. In Ukraine they are primarily located under the regions that Russia has occupied and just over the border from Poland. Yes. The Donbass region is host to all Ukrain’es goodies. It contains the most area of ‘black earth’ (the most fertile). there is oil and a gas field under there. Part of the motivation (apart from the Ukranian desire to cleanse the region of ethnic Russians) for the constant shelling of the Donbass since 2014.
The huge oil and gas field just across the border from Poland may be playing a very important role in Poland’s posturing to annex that part of Ukraine.
