Projection as usual. The US wanted to make Crimea a military base.

The Russians have had a naval base at Sevastopol in the Crimea since 1783. You are never going to ‘demilitarize’ it. Cookies Nuland can dream on. Unfortunately for Cookies, all her pronouncements just make the Russians more angry. Not only will Ukraine permanently lose Crimea but I would be very surprised if they ever have access to Odessa again, once this is over. The Russians will take more from Ukraine than they originally intended. Poland will take back Galicia and Cookies Nuland will be able to glory in having created a Ukrainian state that is half the size it once… Read more »

“…but I would be very surprised if they ever have access to Odessa again, once this is over.” So would I. The Russian empress Catherine the Great founded Odessa, by giving an order to build it in 1795, after a Russian conquest from the Turks. Odessa was still a Russian city 1905, which was the scene of the first Bolshevik revolution, when sailors from the battleship Potemkin, attacked the Russian city of Odessa.  Odessa never had a Ukrainian majority and it never belonged to Ukraine before 1919. In February of 1917 there were approximately 20,000 Bolsheviks. By the end of September, 1917 there were more than 200,000 Bolsheviks. This increase took place under conditions of very limited communication abilities and difficulties with travel. There was also the Tzar’s secret service to worry about..It was a very popular revolution because the Russian feudal system, which was what the revolution wanted to overturn, was very cruel to the poor. It is true that many of the leaders of the Bolsheviks were Jewish, but nowhere near all of the leaders were and certainly the rank and file were minority Jewish.

Russia, to this day, honors the Bolsheviks. Near Sevastopol is “This memorial commemorates the fallen Bolsheviks and Soviets in the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945)”. There are many other instances where Russia honors the Bolsheviks. Lenin is considered a great hero and his likeness is on many commemoratives.

The EU has no possibility of a u-turn now that they have sanctioned u-bend sales to Russia. Sorry, best I could do but…hang on..how about – this last package of sanctions have proved that the EU is just a busted flush? Geddit?

Victoria Nuland and her delusions of grandeur. What a piece of work she is. Put her together with Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi and you have a garbage can with legs.

Since the EU is full of shit, I can see where they cannot afford to export their toilets.
