Actually, there is a case to be made that Mr Trump does deserve admiration. Not that he is honest or intelligent or educated. But he is somewhat less dishonest and unintelligent and uneducated than most US politicians. And since US Presidents are usually the lowest common denominator of US politicians, it’s been a very low bar.
Yeah giving Trump credit for deceiving his magatard base yet again would be like giving an adult credit for deceiving a child. There is no question of spending 5% of GDP on “defence”. The only conceivable enemies are Russia, China, and Iran – and any war against even one of those would lead inevitably to thermonuclear exchanges and the extinction of the human species.
So the only effect of increasing “defence” spending would be to funnel more taxpayers’ money to armaments manufacturers. Since they own the US government, it is unsurprising that such a policy is being pushed.
