In the event of an invasion, the Iranian government, people, and armed forces would not exactly “have their backs to the wall”. Rather, they would have the combined forces of China, Russia, and possibly other Asian countries such as Pakistan behind them.
If the US government were looking for a quick way of destroying their own nation, that would be a fine choice.
