The goal is to balkanise Iran in such a way that the remaining “Persia” is a landlocked rump state that is both cut off from its oil and gas fields on the coast, and from access to the seas. We’ll probably see Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) make an appearance on the stage.
The Iranians lived through regime change operations when Mossadeq was removed and murdered and the deeply corrupt US puppet Pahlavi was installed as the head of state. Perhaps they don’t want to see the slaughter and mayhem in their country again.
Even if they agreed to the US’ terms, which they won’t, there’s no guarantee whatsoever that the US won’t renege on them when it suits them, as they have done down the years, starting with the genocide of their indigenous people.
