Sounds to me like Germany’s trying to prevent collapse of the German bund market. Think Luongo might say that the EU has long controlled German interest rates relative to the 10 yr treasury and that they’ve now “run out of other people’s money.” I noticed the other day that there was some sort of blow out in the bund rates, which gives this announcement some feel of maybe being a bit desperate.
