He served under Janukovitch untill 1913, but defected and hided untill Maidan 1914, when he supported the newnazi/oligarch coup regime. I think one of the reasons the West is panicking is the opening of the exhibition of the spoils of war in Moscow. It seems that thousands of people attended the first day and it has been well covered in MSM.
