“Kursk Becomes Ukr’s Trap” Oh, stop it already with your pollyannaish attempts to put a positive spin on everything, it’s getting to be embarrassing. The fact is that we’re in Day 6 of Ukraine’s invasion of Russia, thousands of Russian citizens have been forced to evacuate the area, the only pumping station that delivers Russian natural gas to Europe through Ukraine (located in Sudzha) has been captured, and the incursion has forced Russia to take troops from the front line, where they have been advancing to Ukraine’s Donetsk, and deploy them at Kursk, relieving pressure from the front line for… Read more »
You’re absolutely right. It’s almost insultingly stupid. I posted yesterday this is Ukraine’s Tet offensive and means the same thing for Ukraine / NATO as it did for the N. Vietnamese in ’68. It is an unlabeled NATO invasion of Russia. and is a catastrophe that is STILL ongoing.

I have $100 dollars that says in 30 days, Russia will have ejected all Ukrainian troops from Russia and will have a new front making progress towards Kiev as a result of this Invasion. I will also bet that Russia will deal a crippling blow to Ukraine infrastructure that they have until now been reluctant to do. My prediction, is anyone left in Ukraine come winter will be doing so without much ability to heat their dwellings at all. Of course this may all end in the nuclear destruction of Ukraine before that. I cannot discount that possibility. I think… Read more »
“I have $100 dollars that says in 30 days, Russia will have ejected all Ukrainian troops from Russia”
Sure. Then in 60 days the Ukrainians will pull yet another rabbit from their magical hat of tricks and put the squeeze on Russia yet again in some other surprising and innovative way. Rinse, lather, repeat.
When you have a roach infestation and you DON’T find & destroy their nest, then you’re not killing the roaches …you’re merely playing with them.
STOP PLAYING WITH THE ROACHES VLADIMIR!
Ukraine does not have magical tricks, it has stupid stunts that get their troops and equipment destroyed. This is not a game, Ukraine is losing badly, and they will not exist as a military force in 2026.
It’s simply yet another way for the Kiev gang to get still more of their soldiers killed quickly, and more of their Western-supplied weapons destroyed. The Russians obviously prefer their enemies to come to them and get killed en masse, rather than hiding inside massive fortifications and behind minefields.
For the time being, the Kiev gang are winning the Battle of the Economist. But in a month this whole Kursk fiasco will have joined all the other failed operations in the oubliette.
“…the only pumping station that delivers Russian natural gas to Europe through Ukraine (located in Sudzha) has been captured…” So – maybe – less Russian gas will reach Europe. And you believe that is a BAD thing for Russia? Russia has a ready market in Asia for all the gas it can pump, and if it has been maintaining supplies to Europe it can only be because of contractual obligations – which the Russians rigorously observe (unlike the West). The only people who could possibly be hurt by shutting down the gas supply through Sudzha are the Europeans who apparently… Read more »
This Kursk incursion, like almost all of the noticeable Ukrainian initiatives of the past 2-3 years, bears the hallmarks of political desperation. When a war is being inexorably lost, politicians cannot delay the inevitable; but they can, and often do, accelerate it considerably. The “Battle of the Bulge” was Hitler’s desperate last-ditch burst of wishful thinking. He pulled together almost all the strength that the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS had left and threw it at the Allies exactly like a bankrupt gambler going double or quits. As a result, a lot of Germans were killed, much excellent equipment was destroyed or… Read more »
It is obviously true that it makes no sense to devote five brigades to capturing one small town. Unless you are a politician or a media mogul. In which case you are prone to believe that what appears in the media is at least as important as what really happens – if not more so. It’s also convenient that what appears in the media is much easier to control.
Actually, it is yet another situation in which it helps to understand that the Russians play chess while the Americans play poker.
If the game really is chess, the poker approach is fatal. Instead, a game-theory minimax strategy works best; and that is the strategy the Russians (like other sane people) pursue.
Hello,
I know these cooling towers quite well. Inside is mostly water sprays to return the steam to water. I have never seen anything combustible in a Cooling Tower. The Black Smoke signifies old tires or similar things — Gr
Alexander says that the Russians appear to be focusing on depleting Ukrainian armoured vehicles. But the Russians have no need to do that, and almost no choice. As the Ukrainians are attempting to attack, they must use armoured vehicles to transport their soldiers. Thus the AVs are automatically exposed to attack – far more so than they would in defence. As I’ve said before, no military officer would attempt such a crazy attack. But politicians often prefer to lose spectacularly than to be ground down slowly and unglamorously. After all, they can always fly away to their Western villas and… Read more »
Russians are very maskirovkay, Jews seem to be stupid these days, perhaps out of desperation, and the goyim are easy to fool and expendable. Put it all together and figure it out, fog or no fog.
