America has had rotten Presidents since 2000, but Trump has now gone too far:
“Federal technology staffers resign rather than help Musk and DOGE”
WASHINGTON (AP), 25 February 2025
More than 20 civil service employees resigned on Tuesday from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they were refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”
“We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations,” the 21 staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press. “However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.”
The employees also warned that many of those enlisted by Musk to help him slash the size of the federal government under President Donald Trump’s administration were political ideologues who did not have the necessary skills or experience for the task ahead of them.
The mass resignation of engineers, data scientists and product managers is a temporary setback for Musk and the Republican president’s tech-driven purge of the federal workforce. It comes amid a flurry of court challenges that have sought to stall, stop or unwind their efforts to fire or coerce thousands of government workers out of jobs.
In a statement, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was dismissive of the mass resignation.
“Anyone who thinks protests, lawsuits, and lawfare will deter President Trump must have been sleeping under a rock for the past several years,” Leavitt said. “President Trump will not be deterred from delivering on the promises he made to make our federal government more efficient and more accountable to the hardworking American taxpayers.”…
The day after Trump’s inauguration, the staffers wrote, they were called into a series of interviews that foreshadowed the secretive and disruptive work of Musk’s’ Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.
According to the staffers, people wearing White House visitors’ badges, some of whom would not give their names, grilled the nonpartisan employees about their qualifications and politics. Some made statements that indicated they had a limited technical understanding. Many were young and seemed guided by ideology and fandom of Musk — not improving government technology.
“Several of these interviewers refused to identify themselves, asked questions about political loyalty, attempted to pit colleagues against each other, and demonstrated limited technical ability,” the staffers wrote in their letter. “This process created significant security risks.”
Earlier this month, about 40 staffers in the office were laid off. The firings dealt a devastating blow to the government’s ability to administer and safeguard its own technological footprint, they wrote.
“These highly skilled civil servants were working to modernize Social Security, veterans’ services, tax filing, health care, disaster relief, student aid, and other critical services,” the resignation letter states. “Their removal endangers millions of Americans who rely on these services every day. The sudden loss of their technology expertise makes critical systems and American’s data less safe.”
Those who remained, about 65 staffers, were integrated into DOGE’s government-slashing effort. About a third of them quit on Tuesday.
“We will not use our skills as technologists to compromise core government systems, jeopardize Americans’ sensitive data, or dismantle critical public services,” they wrote. “We will not lend our expertise to carry out or legitimize DOGE’s actions.”
The slash-and-burn effort Musk is leading diverges from what was initially outlined by Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. DOGE, a nod to Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency meme coin, was initially presented as a blue-ribbon commission that would exist outside government.
After the election, however, Musk hinted there was more to come, posting to his social media site, X, “Threat to democracy? Nope, threat to BUREAUCRACY!!!” …
Last week he stood on stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference gathering outside Washington, where he boasted of his exploits and hoisted a blinged-out, Chinese-made chainsaw above his head that was gifted by Argentinian President Javier Milei.
“This is the chainsaw for bureaucracy,” Musk bellowed from the stage. …
It’s obvious to anyone but a fool, that cutting the federal budget requires lasers and scalpels — NOT chain saws! (And not only must huge cuts be made, but a few small additions must also be made. And chainsaws can’t do that at all.)
These people (Trump, Musk, and their obedient servants) are traitors, the OPPOSITE of public servants. There is huge waste in the federal Government, and most of it goes to the 53% of the annually authorized federal budget that goes to the military, including to the Defense Department but also including to Veterans Affairs, the Intelligence Community, Energy Department, and even the Treasury Department, and others — but the ONLY federal Department that has never been audited is the Defense Department, which alone constitutes around $900 billion per year (all of the OTHER military expenditures, amounting to over $600 billion per year from other Departments, ARE audited) out of the $1.5 trillion per year that goes to the military. And, of that roughly 53%, half, or roughly 26%, of annually appropriated federal funds go to the U.S. firms that sell weapons to the U.S. Government (here are the top ten of those) — and those 26% are among the Defense Department’s 53% — all of which is unaudited money!
This President is using the “cut waste, fraud, and abuse” motto so as to go after the REST (the remaining 47%) of the federal budget, and perhaps EVEN to cut the MANDATORY (not annually congressionally appropriated) federal expenditures in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
On February 14th, the AP headlined “Where US adults think the government is spending too much, according to AP-NORC polling”, and listed in rank-order according to the opposite (“spending too little”) the following 8 Government functions: 1. Social Security; 2. Medicare; 3. Education; 4. Assistance to the poor; 5. Medicaid; 6. Border security; 7. Federal law enforcement; 8. The Military. That’s right: the American public (and by an overwhelming margin) are THE LEAST SUPPORTIVE of spending more money on the military, and the MOST SUPPORTIVE of spending more money on Social Security, Medicare, Education, Assistance to the poor, and Medicaid (the five functions the Republican Party has always been the most vocal to call “waste, fraud, and abuse” and try to cut). Meanwhile, The Military, which actually receives 53% (and in the latest year far more than that) of the money that the Congress allocates each year and gets signed into law by the President, keeps getting, each year, over 50% of the annually appropriated federal funds.
An important point to be made here is that both #s 4&5, Assistance to the poor, and Medicaid, are “discretionary federal spending” (i.e., controlled by the annual appropriations that get voted into law each year), whereas #s 1&2 (Social Security and Medicare) are “mandatory federal spending” (i.e., NOT controlled by Congress and the President). So, Trump and the Republicans are going after the poor because they CAN; they can’t (at least as-of YET) reduce or eliminate Social Security and Medicare. However, by now, it is crystal clear that Trump’s Presidency will be an enormous boon to America’s billionaires, and an enormous bane to the nation’s poor. The aristocratic ideology has always been: to get rid of poverty, we must get rid of the poor — work them so hard they will go away (let them seek ‘refugee’ status SOMEWHERE ELSE).
This is obviously a dictatorship, with little if any (other than of only the most formalistic type) of actual democratic legitimacy. It heads what it and its colonies (‘allies’) call “the free world,” but it is itself ripe for a Second American Revolution — not only because of the emergency-situation regarding the current President, but ALSO because clearly the U.S. Government NO LONGER IS ANY REAL DEMOCRACY AT ALL — the scientific studies have shown that at least ever since 1980, what the U.S. Government does has NO correlation with what its public want but VERY HIGH correlation with what its billionaires want. Corruption has killed whatever democracy America had.
Right now, both the prior Biden Administration and the new Trump Administration are pressuring their colonies (‘allies’) to increase their military expenditures, in order to keep this soaring wealth for their billionaires going. (Six of the ten biggest armaments-manufacturers in the entire world are American.) Continuation of the current U.S.-backed wars and perhaps starting some new ones, will be needed in order to make this happen (especially because no nation is trying to conquer America but America craves to conquer every nation it doesn’t already control — so, virtually all of this money is waste); and, therefore, as the U.S. Government has been doing ever since 1945 and especially after 1991 (when the Soviet Union ended), what’s needed is creating international chaos, civil wars, and failed states. But this also means that existing wars must be continued as long as possible. Furthermore, on 8 January 2025, the President-elect Donald Trump indicated that if his previously announced intention for the U.S. to buy Greenland, and the Panama Canal, gets rejected in the negotiations, then he will seize them militarily, because “We need them for economic security.” For his billionaires — NOT for the American public.
The time for a Second American Revolution has come. The First one was to get rid of Britain’s aristocracy here, by defeating them militarily; this one will be to get rid of America’s aristocracy here, by stripping them of their ability to buy ‘our’ ‘public’ officials. But the first step must be to get rid of Trump as President, who lied his way into office and has turned out to have been too brazen, too soon, about having done so.
PS: If you like this article, please email it to all your friends or otherwise let others know about it. None of the U.S.-and-allied ‘news’-media will likely publish it (nor link to it, since doing that might also hurt them with Google or etc.). I am not asking for money, but I am asking my readers to spread my articles far and wide, because I specialize in documenting what the Deep State is constantly hiding — what the ‘news’-media ignore if they can, and deny if they must. This is, in fact, today’s samizdat.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s latest book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory, and Why the Social Sciences Need to Change, is about how America took over the world after World War II in order to enslave it to U.S.-and-allied billionaires. Their cartels extract the world’s wealth by control of not only their ‘news’ media but the social ‘sciences’ — duping the public.

Eric “Biden” Zuesse.
What a sick joke against the author who has called Biden “the most corrupt President in all of U.S. history.” Ad-hominems of any sort are dumb, but yours here was a whopper of one.
And pejoratives, such as “racist” and “Nazi”, are used by those who have problems with rational debate. I’m pleased to see that you have abandoned their use.
Let the dump do his thing. No one will destroy the US hegemony faster than itself.
Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is an absolute godsend, as it is exposing a plethora or treacherous individuals and organizations, that were funded by the United States Agency for International Development, for which George Soros’ Open Society Foundations has been the main implementer of USAID’s aid” since at least 2009.
I have been deeply mistrustful of a significant number of alternative media or so called Independent media outlets and their Journalists, for many many years now, and I am hoping that Elon Musk’s DOGE will expose these swine, who must be acutely anxious of been uncovered.
Unfortunately the ubiquitous false dilemma fallacy is so entrenched in so many minds, reasonable debate on the nuance is just about impossible. Yes, USAID should have been burned to the ground long ago, that is 1000% clear. Why did that happen now? Only due to Trump/Musk?? There is more at work. And it’s funny to see Fergal back Trump/Musk when Trump was put in power in part by Adelson’s Zionist shekels. I myself try to see things in such simple terms as black vs white… but just can’t. I do believe Eric sometimes does not get how Trump talks smack. Example, the US cannot “retake”… Read more »
I think the Ukraine war is being closed out with Putin / Russia not considered pariahs. I am concerned about Gaza and Iran which await resolution. But the entrenched bureaucracy needs to be gutted, period!!

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is an inefficient use of American soft power, and musk has convinced Trump to greatly defund the agency, and instead use the saved capital… Read more »
Re: “There was a genocide during WW2, the camps did exist. I’ve family members who directly witnessed it.” — steve_brown. You never did elaborate on what your family witnessed. please humour us all. What colour of smoke did your family members see coming out of the crematorium chimney? How many times did your family meet the omnipresent Dr. Josef Mengele “Angel of Death”? Did your family ride the roller coaster of death in Auschwitz? Did your family witness the horrific spectacle, where there was a Cage with a Bear and Eagle, and every day they “Nazis” would throw a Jew… Read more »
Trump instantly paused the genocide in Gaza and got hostages released. Now he’s trying to end the war in Ukraine! What a monster!
The nation is going bankrupt so Trump is slashing spending and ending fraud, waste and abuse. What a monster! Now senior members of the DC blob are upset and find a story about a few unhappy Elon workers. We don’t really know why they left, but it must be evil! No reports about computer issues on non-payment of benefits, so what’s the story here?
Hence my remark at the top.
TRUMP IS CLEANING OUT THE SWAMP… … Do you really want more Biden, Obama etc ?
Thanks for this article. Agree with you: a new revolution is required. May I suggest you read my book: Inverted democracy in America which describes how the Constitution was emptied over time.
“Donald Trump will not bring peace or jobs. Neither would have Hillary Clinton. The only two candidates who might have done so, Bernie Sanders or Jill Stein, were cut off from the race.”—A failure of the American democracy by Jean-Luc Basle.
Why on earth would anyone want to read your Jewish Trotskyite propaganda, as you are just another clone of the treacherous Jew, Noam Chomsky!
Oh no! Trump is achieving peace! The horror of it all!
Trump is not “achieving peace”. See Brian Berletic’s(The New Alas) latest for the simple, obvious, and correct analysis. The 80 year old project to destroy Russia is continuing.
