Iraq, Erbil, and the Vile Empire

In Iraq’s “autonomous” region of Erbil, deadlocked talks over forming a new regional Cabinet highlight a bitter rivalry between two ruling parties, posing a renewed threat to Kurdistan’s oil export sector. The Iraqi Kurd “autonomous” region — from where notorious Israeli war criminal Ben Gvir hails — has been politically deadlocked for eight months now, reflecting the political instability which defines the “autonomous region’s” very existence.

Erbil hosts a “secret location” for Israel’s security services, which employs a listening post to monitor communications and air / ground activity in this strategic location, dead center between Tehran and Syria. Israel Air Force flights leverage southern Syria and the Erbil region’s air space to attack neighboring nations, that oppose Tel Aviv / Washington policies.

Erbil enforces western discipline in exchange for financial (and other) favors, and is particularly notorious as a hub of western-induced corruption. [1]  A thirty-month long suspension of oil exports from the “autonomous” region was only recently resolved, however minister Masrour Barzani and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani remain at loggerheads over the failure of proceeds in Kurd region oil sales to be paid in tribute to the US captive Iraqi regime, instead to Erbil’s own elites.

Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani has been lauded by the Atlantic Council/ Neocon Blob for his fealty to the west, and there is little hope that will change any time soon. And Erbil does not see its difference with Baghdad as being serious enough to provoke a violent conflict.

Meanwhile Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani walks a fine line between complicity with Washington (and its mandate to eliminate Iran’s PMC militias in Iraq) and the Iraqi people’s hope to expel the west from its territory after a long period of US occupation, not to mention the Iraqi people’s support for Palestinian self-determination.

Understandably, after years of western aggression and a brutal US occupation in Iraq, the Iraqi regime is quite worried about Tel Aviv’s ability to decapitate just about anyone. Iraq believes that the assassination “state” of Israel will have no compunction about eliminating Iraq’s political elite if Iraq turns against Israel, and denies Israel use of its air space to attack other nations.

Of course Iraq’s fragmented political establishment is dependent on western colonial ambition and hegemony, and has been co-opted by incestuous US dollar bribes and political intrigue. It’s a history which dates back to Seymour Hersh’s expose of ‘Redirection’ nearly twenty years ago, and long before.  See: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2007/03/05/the-redirection

Ultimately, shekels talk. And bullshit walks. Which is pretty much where we are (still at) today in west Asia — with exceptions being a majority of the Palestinian people objecting to the endemic fraud [2], and Yemen.

As I’ve written many times before, the main claim to fame for the former United States is its creation of failed states by force, and by force of corruption all over the world… Of which Iraq – like its “autonomous Kurd region” – is certainly notable.
